We may have a problem with our comment system. One of our readers reported seeing this error after trying to post a comment on a story here:

You don’t have permission to access /wp-comments-post.php on this server.

Apache/2.2.22 (Debian) Server at stopthecap.com Port 80

We are currently investigating and if you are also seeing this error, please let us know by visiting here and reporting it. It is not happening for everyone and we are trying to track this down.

There will also be approximately one hour of downtime later tonight as we upgrade our server to improve performance as a result of increased traffic. This message will disappear after the upgrade is complete.

The upgrade is complete.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Commenting on the desktop seems to work. It’s in the Firefox mobile browser which returns the “Forbidden” error. (Guess where I do most of my browsing?)

NoScript reports that (the mobile site) is sending a suspicious cross-site scripting (XSS) post request from jetpack.wordpress.com, though it gives the option of unsafe reload. I imagine the mobile browser just strips it without warning.

I’ve been having this problem ever since I started visiting this site, which was February at the latest.
