The Golden Triangle of southeastern Texas encompasses the cities of Orange to the east, Port Arthur to the south, and Beaumont to the west.

Nine years after Hurricane Rita swamped parts of the Golden Triangle region of southeastern Texas, Time Warner Cable is finally getting around to restoring service to parts of Orange County that haven’t had cable broadband since 2005.

A warm spring has allowed crews to start construction to parts of Orange County affected by the storm that wreaked havoc on the area nearly a month after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans. Although some properties were severely damaged by the hurricane, other utilities restored service to the area years ago. Time Warner Cable is the last, and it cannot come soon enough for Chelsey Walters.

The Orange, Tex. resident is forced to get usage-capped DSL broadband from AT&T, and her last monthly bill reached over $750.

“Both of my car notes are less than that and even with our Internet you cannot do anything because it drops and there are times when it does not work,” Walters told KBMT-TV in Beaumont. “When we first moved out there, they (Time Warner) came out and ran all the cables in my house, then called us and said – oh we do not service that area.”

The construction schedule for Orange County, Tex.:

  • Hwy. 105 East on Hwy. 62 to Caribou Ln. is forecast to be serviceable by the middle of May
  • From Woodcock St. to Michell Rd. is forecast to be serviceable by the middle of May
  • On Hwy. 62 from S. Meadow Dr. to Egan Dr. is forecast to be serviceable by the middle of May
  • On Tulane Rd. from Hwy. 62 to Burton Dr. is forecast to be serviceable by the middle of June
  • On Tulane Rd. from Burton Dr. to Old Hwy. 90 is scheduled to be on by the middle of June
  • On Old Hwy. 90 from Tulane Rd. to E. Wood Fern St. is forecast to be serviceable by the end of June
  • I-10 west from Med Davis Rd. to N. Lewis Dr. is forecast to be serviceable by the first of July
  • I-10 West from Naquin Rd. to Peru Rd. is forecast to be serviceable by the first of July
  • From Moss Ln. to Hartzog Rd. is forecast to be serviceable by the first of August

time warner doesnt even acknowledge they are expanding past i10 unless you quote this article.

the concept of servicing n lewis and not just down 62 is insulting to say the least for me.

wireless companies have lost their bloody minds on pricing and i cant get at&t or time warner to get off their butts for anything!

Well even on Old 90 I had to reach to some weird people to find out for sure. First step was to ask the guys working putting the lines themselves since they aren’t Time Warner employees. Second I reached out through Twitter and clearly explained the situation, so the person reached out to the Time Warner Construction office in charge of South East Texas from them I got the final word that it was for sure an expansion and that the deadline for the services to go up had been moved from June to August.

I presently live off of Tulane and down S.Burton and they are running cable and have run cable down S. Burton all way to the canal. When service will actually start is questionable but I have been told August to early September. And, the workers can not answer the question when the service will start, but I do know that Time Warner will have a sales person go door to door when the service is available and offer packages.

Well my next door neighbor has had his connection up and running for two weeks now… yet for some unknown magical reason we can’t order for our house because they are saying it’s unserviceable. Whomever is in charge of this expansion project should lose their jobs. Most disorganized project I have seen in my short life.

I live in south Newton County TX bordering the NE part of Orange County. You guys are so lucky to even have service near your area. Think about us folks relying solely on the cell tower here and the outrageous data pricing. I hear you guys on that. Time Warner, please tell me if there is anything I can do to get my area serviced in Deweyville at 77614. We had cable here at one time. Just like the certain parts of Orange County after Rita, we were abandoned by cable companies and thrown into the lions den of data… Read more »

fun letter from time warner after contaction the public utlities commission.

to summeris:

1: contacted public utlities commission.
was advised to tell time warner they are rquired to provide service and to point them to the franchise filing if that failed was advised to bring them to district court.

2:talked to time warner mentioned above information.

3:recived interesting letter stating they have no intention of providing service and a touch of unfriendly warning about the prospect of bring them to district court.
