As an individual, I would like to use Qwest, if only because they stood up to the federal government to help maintain privacy rights during Bush's administration:

Also, Qwest used to have its own cellular service, before shutting it down and moving everyone to Sprint, then shhutting Sprint based service down and moving everyone to Verizon.

Heck, Verizon might buy up the urban components of Qwest; the company has several large metro areas in its footprint. If, that is, Verizon is able to quickly sell off (or not buy in the first place) rural areas also owned by the provider.

If someone were to buy Qwest I'd guess AT&T would buy up the larger cities, which are being upgraded to VDSL2 anyway, and Frontier or CenturyLink would get more rural areas, assuming the company finally relented and allowed itself to be carved up into different portions. Not sure who the long haul network would go to; Cogent seemed interested awhile back. Maybe NTT America would take both the network and the data centers...
